One question about cloning..... if I clone myself and thrity years downthe road come down with a terminal disease, won't my brain be compatible with my clones body for a brain transplant?
This is a great site. This subject is, as others say, a funny subject. A lot of thought has gone into the moral arguments of cloning. Too bad Billy Clinton doesn't come here.
When will accelerated growth become available so I can date my clone...?

Archana no, i don't think so... 98.01.26
Nice webpage. For every issue we need pro- and anti-. I just think this debate is pretty funny! If you pull yourself out of it and just watch, you would think so too. So what's my stand? Well, i think the best way to "deal with the threat of cloning" is by facing our fears. Do it. See what happens. Don't make assumptions based on ignorance.

JP 98.01.26
In terms of issues, cloning reminds me most of abortion.

There will be at least one valid usage for cloning where the benefits will outweigh any concerns. This will lead to cloning being practiced at some point in the future. There will also be many usages that are completely unacceptable. And there will be grey areas, where different people have different opinions based on their moral and religious backgrounds. We as a society will have to come to grips with the choices this new technology gives us and how we want to use it, and this will take lots of time.

Rassilon Rassilon79@Hotmail.com 98.01.23
This was a very amusing and superbly proffessional looking web
page. Someone obviously put a lot of time, creativity, and
research into making this spoof appear like the web site of a real
biomedical services company, and it shows. Loved it!!
I see though, from some of the other comments printed on this page , that despite your websites' clear illumination of the facts
concerning cloning and, it's examination and lucid debunking of
the many odious myths surrounding it, that many people still fail to understand what cloning is and isn't and what it does and does not offer. Unfortunetly, the general public has been very ill-informed as to the realities of cloning by the popular media, and these entrenched errata persist in clouding the subject in a gharish haze of half-truths,empty "facts", and wild surmises.
On this page I see comments on how cloning could be good for producing large numbers of feed animals quickly to keep up with Earths' hungry masses or, questions of whether the cloned human is a "real" person with the same emotions as the rest of us. There were also expressed baffling opinions that seemed to say that the clones would be some sort of large population of possibly disgruntled pseudo-humans that might bring down civilisation in a
kind of "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes" scenario. Someones' been taking thier science fiction a little too seriously.
A few, and hopefully helpful, answers: (1) Cloning is not a faster and/or cheaper way to produce large numbers of feed animals as it cannot produce a clone animal any faster or more abundantly than the standard methods of animal reproduction. (2) A human clone will not be some sort of synthetic facsimile of a human being, like Data on Star Trek, but a real, flesh and blood person like you and I, whose emotional capacity will be determined by its' personal experiences, environment, and upbringing after its' birth. (3) Again, human clones will not be a mass-produced population of organo-plastic humanoids; and are unlikely to be forced by social ostricism and/or oppression to bond together in revolutionary-hungry solidarity and attempt to bring down the government.
See ya' and thanks for listening.

russell Texzcowboy@aol.com 98.01.23
your site is great, keep adding on. I learned more on your satirical spoof that on some other more devoted site. Many people need to get over the myths of cloning, and the imaginary horrors that hold prejustice toward cloning and open thier eyes. We are just beginning to explore cloning and many problems still stand in our way, but if used wisely it will be a great benefit to society.

Eliina Estasusana@aol.com 98.01.23
This is a great site. Finally someone is looking at the lighter side of this dreadfully serious issue. People are afraid of what they don't understand, and most people don't really understand cloning.

I believe that cloning is inevitable in our lifetime. It's just a matter if society accepts it. I am very interested in the idea of cloning as I wish to pursure it in my future. I think that it is perfectly normal to clone. There are many benefits to clones as have been mentioned in this guestbook. For example, we could clone ample ammounts of food for our growing population. Also, we could clone spare body parts for if/when we need a transplant of some sort. Wouldn't it be better to get a transplat of your own genetic material rather then that of a strangers?
I don't believe cloning another Hitler will create World War III. I say this because when you clone, it is a reproduction of genetic material. The way people act is a summery of their life experiences. How they go through ther experiences may effect how the react to them, but it has nothing to do with their genetic material. There is all that research done on identical twins seperated at birth. They share the same genetic makeup, but lived seperate lives, making they unique individuals with a few similarities.
I believe that we have a lot to concider before we start cloning humans, but for the mean time, we should carry on cloning animals for food.
As for saving endangered animals....if they are fading away, do you not think that's because their survival on our planet is too hard anymore with humans. So, cloning them would do no good unless we cloned a whole new world to put them on.

Socrates DWillman@Nowhere.Net 98.01.22
Cloning has opened new worlds for me. I am a member of MABLA, Man-Boy Love Association. I believe in legalizing intercourse between consenting underage boys and adult men. Cloning has provided our group with a supply of small boys otherwise difficult to obtain. I have been raising a sturdy lad for three years and in another three, we will be able to share physical love as well as the emotional we have already. Cloning has made for a revolution for all of us poorly-undrestood and often put-down pedophiles. Thank you for making my fondest dreams come true.

I have to do a research paper for biology, and I found this site on a search I did. When I first saw it, I thought the information given was great and very informative and I printed some of the stuff. But when I came to the stuff like price list and order form and testimonials, I was blown away. It was so stupid and fake, although some of it was funny. I could not believe that this was all a funny lie and that there are people dumb enough to believe all of this even when they have not even successfully cloned humans yet. I'm going to a web site with valid information.

I am doing a term paper for English class on the moral issues of human cloning. I believe if we clone a person, they will be too emotionally unstable to make it in our society. They will have 3 different mothers 1) The mother who the cells came from. 2) The mother who had them in their womb and gave birth to them. 3) The mother who raised them. It would be so terrible to have to say that your mom is actually your grandmother. Plus, after watching Boys of Brazil, and reading Brave New World, it should be obvious we are playing with technology we can't handle.

James nac1@erols.com 98.01.17
It's nice to see someone who grew up and still carries the dubious distinction of being the class clone.

Ed 98.01.16
It's wrong!

Victor kriket@erols.com 98.01.16
Cloning of humans is inevitable. The issue is how humanity will view and use it, and what effect those views and usages will have on the basic nature of humanity. For example, eternal life will fundamentally alter what it means to be human.

Richard Goold morpheus@myna.com 98.01.15
I am certainly all for cloning. If only others realised that we have been cloning plants naturally for ages, simply by cutting off a twig from a plant and growing it separately. Genetically identical, thus cloned, but still very unique. My greatest fear is the backlash from religions not prepared to accept what cloning may reveal.

To those who claim we are playing God (or whatever other deity you believe in) by creating life, all I have to say is that we are doing no more selection than that which we do in choosing partners.

If you believe in a soul, then that soul is not only present in a clone, but is different from the soul of the original person. Unless you refute the lessons of high school biology, there is no logical reason why a clone is any different from any other human being.

Personally, I look forward to the advances in health research cloning may bring. I sincerely doubt we will have a Brave New World, since we are cloning, not altering.

Richard

I feel that cloning has it's strong points, and its weaknesses. I am doing a report on cloning for a science debate. My stand on the issue for my project is that I'm pro-cloning, but in reality I'm not really sure. In one respect it could help save endangered animals. But in other respects, this could put a serious damper on what people believe. People are saying that this is making us equal to God. This could cause serious problems in religion areas with people and their believes. Thank you very much for listening to my comments.
Rachel

Why would you want to have all the problems that deal with cloning running around in your society? Cloning can lead to multiple crimes, genetic mutations, over population, and a societal mental breakdown!

James noselfnoi@aol.com 98.01.14
We could solve the Endangered Species problems. We could also feed more hungry people with freshly cloned farm animals.

Searfoss 98.01.14
I hope that all of you fearless surfers do realize that the author of this page is making a possible scenario for future cloning endevors. As a bioethnician, it is morally flawed to clone humans at this state as there is no guidlines for healthy and ethical cloning. Super-races can be created easily as the FAQ's point out. While we could make more Hilter's and Cindy Crawfords...we will make the extremes. Please, carefully consider the issues and make you own decision on cloning. Also, please be aware that the gentleman wishing to open a baby cloning clinic is real as it checks out on NPR. These issues hit home. While no cloning on humans has been successful, just give it a few more years and another 300 attempts and we will have Dolly Partan and not Dolly the Sheep.

Casey casey_wharton@yahoo.com 98.01.14
This is such an awesome site. I don't know where I stand on

Cloning is an interesting subject now. However, what will the outcome be like? Are they really humans? Do they have feelings and sympathy etc? It's difficult for the public to decide now whether it's right or wrong as these questions has no answer for now.

John Doe 98.01.13
Don't you people think that maybe cloning will be the end of mankind.

untitled 98.01.13
I have just started on this assighnment for school and it has
actually pretty interristing! I have learned alot.
But I really don't agree with the cloning idea because I think that nature should be able to do its job. And if they start cloning people it could start to get out of hand, especially if the cloned people start causing trouble. But like I said, LET NATURE DO ITS JOB!!!!!!!

Steve 98.01.12
I have very mixed feelings on this subject. One one side I feel that cloning should be banned because of my religious beliefs. I think that God intended me to be here and he is the creator of life and should decide whether or not a life should be created. On the other side I think that new science dicoveries like this one could be used to benefit human life. I guess what my conclusion is is that science is not bad or harmful, it is just how you use it that can be bad or harmful.

Eirka 98.01.12
Cloning....Could be good could be bad . Who knows I say leave it up to those who have the technology to decide how they will use it . Who knows it may or may not be good who are we to judge. I think cloning is technology that could help change the world 4 the better if we use it properly .
Bye!

Tee Marbles 98.01.11
As with any act in which no victim is involved, a ban on cloning would be needless and unwelcome interference in our lives. That is not to say that there is no role for legislation; due to the intense media interest in human cloning, I feel a necessary and appropriate precaution would be to ensure that the identity of anyone born via cloning should be protected with legal safeguards. Otherwise you'd have papparazzi and other intrusive media staff hounding Baby X right from the day he/she was born. Such safeguards would also prevent potential discrimination against those born via cloning.

Marlene Murphy marlene104@aol.com 98.01.11
I think that cloning is a great idea -- especially for people like myself who didn't get married until later in life and are therefore too old to have children. However, I believe this type of reproduction should be limitted to infertile couples and should be monitored. As with any new idea, it can produce good results or may result in a misuse of new technology.

Emily 98.01.11
On principle, I feel that cloning is wrong, but that science should not be stopped in researching it on animal clones. However, your page has disgusted me. Are we in a society that puts such a high premium on beauty that we have to buy former beauty queens? What happened to valuing people on a deeper level than superficial? Creating perfection is going to backfire, because humans are by nature imperfect, and anyone who is created perfect will not be accepted by the human community. Who wants a child who never cries in frustration when they do not as well as he or she hoped on a test of any sort, and then see him or her triumph weeks later after practice? It is ridiculous to want to create perfection in a world where everyday anecdotes, mistakes, failures, and joys are really what make life worth living.

Nice page, guys. Although it is fairly fake from the standpoint that it aint on the news, it does sound semi-professional and even a bit realistic. This could be real someday.. or maybe even is now, who knows? Rich people have habits of doing things the r est of us don't know about, and it's (technically) possible..
